Prof. Simon Carrington,Timo Nuoranne has been Professor of Choral Conducting at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf since the summer semester in 2014
Timo Nuoranne graduated from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki with a degree in piano and choral conducting. He also studied singing and was trained countertenor. He gained important impulses for his activities as a choir director through an exchange year at the Royal Music Academy in Stockholm as well as through his participation in various master classes.
From 1996 to 2014 he was a lecturer in choral conducting at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and directed outstanding Finnish choirs, including the Finnish Radio Chamber Choir, the Jubilate Choir, the Philharmonic Choir in Tampere and the Gloria Chamber Choir.
Timo Nuoranne is a guest conductor of numerous professional choirs worldwide (RIAS Chamber Choir, Flemish Radio Choir, Danish Radio Choir, Cappella Romana in Portland USA, etc.). From 2002 to 2006 he was artistic director of Elisabeth Singers and visiting professor at the Elisabeth University of Music in Hiroshima, Japan.
